Tecstio
May 30th, 2007
I’ve just received an email press release from the WLB announcing the official launch of tecstio – predictive text entry for your mobile – in Welsh of course.
It will be officially launched at the Urdd on Thursday, 2:00 - apparently in a big orange bus (shouldn’t be too hard to find!). The software’s developer Steffan Jones will be there too (in case any of you have techy questions to put to him, or you just want to buy him a beer).
Interesting to note that you can swap languages at any point – including half way through a message – useful for inserting those ironic English asides of course. Depending on your phone there is also software to allow you to use Welsh in other applications on your phone – like your calendar.
Software is available to download from http://www.tecstio.com/ - before anyone asks, no I haven’t, my mobile just about acknowledges that it doesn’t need to be physically connected via twisted copper pair in order to work – but that’s the limit of its functionality!
Give it a go and let me know what you think! (You don’t even have to send me your comments for moderation ;-)
